Mariners Corner: Flying Away

May 11, 2010 Leave a comment

Have you ever had the misfortune of sitting in an airport, watching out the window, as a plane you were supposed to be on taxies down the runway, preparing to take off into the ether?

Not a fun feeling. Flying on stand-by can really blow sometimes.

Essentially, Mariner fans have been standing-by this season. Hoping to get something for nothing, or at least, something for a lot less than they bargained for. Read more…

Most Untradeable Fantasy MLB Keepers: No. 14-30

April 4, 2010 Leave a comment

The funny thing about fantasy keeper leagues, is that there’s no single winning formula in which to build your perennial contender. If you had to peg a strategy though, continually upgrading your keeper core from year-to-year, making them as strong as possible, would probably be the way to go.

The question of how to go about doing so, is a riddle that too few ever figure out. Identifying your Holy Grails can often be hard enough as it is. Digging Up the AL West

When I was younger, I was obsessed with dinosaurs. Just completely enamored with them. Their magnificent sizes (really small to really tall), creepy scales, weaponry tails and tongue-twisting names captivated me. It seemed like I knew everything there was to know about roughly 90 percent of all pre-historic creatures, land and sea. In reality, the percentage was probably a lot closer to three percent.

What fascinated me the most though, was the process of digging up bones. I wanted nothing more than to be a paleontologist or an archeologist. That’s right. I wanted to be a Ross Geller. Over the years that aspiration began to fade, as I figured out how much schooling the job would require and how little I would likely actually dig-up.

Still the dream of discovery and exploration emerges from time to time. So let’s take that theme and run with it, taking an exploratory journey beneath the surface of the AL West.

The objective? Discovering our 2010 AL WEST winner. Read more…

Phillies Lee Baseball

Amidst all the crazy, “Will they, won’t they?” MLB trade rumors flying around, I’ve seen roughly six or seven fantasy deals go down in my Keeper League in the last two days, with Saturday night as our deadline.

Everywhere you look – it’s trading season. Read more…
