Oil Can Boyd Wants To Return To The Mound, Giants Immediately Interested
Dennis Boyd, better known as “Oil Can”, is attempting a comeback to the MLB. That is, if anyone will have him. Boyd, who played 10 major league seasons with the Red Sox, Expos and Rangers, has been using contacts in baseball to try to get a shot in front of a scout.
I have nothing to lose, and all a major league team has to lose is 15 minutes. Give me 15 minutes and I’ll show I can still pitch. That’s all I want.
Boyd, who’s 10 year career yielded a 78-77 win-loss record with a career ERA of 4.04, feels like his stuff isn’t much different than it was in the late 80’s. From Foxsports.com:
And he says he’s still got some pretty good stuff, claiming his fastball is in the low-90s and his changeup and curveball are as good as ever.
Something tells me Brian Sabean already has Oil Can on the line.
