Update: It Definitely Wasn’t the Nutri-Grain Bars

Alex Rodriguez did the right thing. Sort of, I guess. He admitted today to continued steroid use from 2001-2003. He apologized to Texas fans, Texas citizens, people who’ve been to Texas and to the slogan, “Don’t Mess With Texas.” He didn’t quite apologize to the New York front office for allowing them to pay him an inflated salary to cover his inflated market value, but this was a step. Whether or not this was a show orchastrated courtesty of A-Rod and his agent, Scott Boras, this was a refreshing move for an athlete to take. Being a fan bombarded by Roger Clemens and Barry Bonds, I realized it had been too long since I heard the gentle, yet weird apologies of Andy Pettite and Jason Giambi.

Alex, you’re still dead to me. But I’ll give you the next nine years to change my mind.

More on this as it develops.
