Super Bowl Discussion Board

Super Bowl XLIII will be upon us before we know it, and by that I of course mean; we have to once again wait two weeks after the championship round for the SB, and the build up tends to be so astoundingly vital to the game, one of these days my head just might explode due to my anticipation.

A bit over the top?

A bit more over the top would be to say I can’t wait for ESPN and the like, to bombard us with daily updates and proceedings for the next two weeks. Sounds great. Really… I can’t wait.

Eventually we here at NIHD will give you our opinions and picks for the big game, but if you yearn for the kind of analysis only Mark Schlereth can give you, well I’m sorry to say, but I think you’ve come to the wrong place.

Instead of mindlessly pretending that Media Day means more than it does and whatever other nonsense we’ll be force-fed, NIHD would rather give you, the reader, a platform to discuss your opinions.

We want to know what you think.

Do the Cards have a better chance of winning the game, or contracting one of Matt Leinart’s STDs?

(*note* I’m obviously joking and make no claims as to whether or not Leinart actually has said STDs. Please don’t sue me, Matt. I have no money. I write a sports blog for free. Don’t you have better things to be doing? Practicing maybe?)

Who will leave the game with more concussions; Warner or Big Ben?

Is Mike Tomlin actually Omar Epps? I’m serious. Simmons may be right about this one.

Anything you want to speak of, feel free to attack the topic with a vengeance.

Britton, Dan and I will give you our thoughts sometime before the game.

Quick question, because I forget: which comes first, the Super Bowl or spring training?

Is Larry Fitzgerald really the best player on the field Sunday? I’m totally up in the air on this one. Don’t get me wrong. I love the dude and what he has done for my fantasy team. He has carried his team in the playoffs but isn’t WR the easiest position in football to shutdown. Granted, dedicating too many resources to him opens up more of the field.

Super Bowl is kinda first … with the World Baseball Classic this year, some players are reporting as soon as this week.

Arizona will win the Super Bowl. Here is why…

You have to go with the most complete team and Arizona has been just that in the post season. Everyone knew that they would put up points against anyone, but what no one expected was for them to shut down the Falcons, Panthers, and Eagles’ running attack. Their defense has been legit this postseason and this is the time of year when it matters.

As far as Pittsburgh, they have been playing good ball, especially on defense, but has their offense been that great? They shredded San Diego, but the Chargers do not have a pass rush and when you have all day in the pocket you will make things happen, just like what Big Ben did. Now, the part that has to make Steelers fans nervous is the fact that Philip Rivers shredded the Steelers secondary for 308 yards, and this was only for 3 quarters of play (the Chargers offense had the ball for exactly one play in the 3rd quarter in part due to very bad luck). With that in mind, what do you think Kurt Warner will do with Fitz, Q, and Steve Breaston?

The key will be to keep Warner upright. We all know that Dick LaBeau, the best defensive mind in football right now, will send the kitchen sink at him. I believe that the Cards pick it up, just like they did against Jim Johnson’s defense, and Kurt Warner wins his second Super Bowl MVP.
