Ed Werder Won’t Let This Go… (Thank God)
ESPN’s Ed Werder has released a story about the Cowboys releasing Terrell Owens that is nearly identical to the one he released last week, except this time with extra soap opera goodness.
From Werder’s article:
“I think we all know that chemistry is the problem with this team more than the schemes or anything else,” a Cowboys source said. “Are we going to continue to allow talent to outweigh everything else in the decisions we make with players and putting the roster together? We’re like the Redskins used to be when they signed every player they wanted. There’s more to it than talent. It has to be more about the team.
“The big one [Owens] didn’t get discussed yet, but I’m sure it will and real hard.”
This is more than it seems for several reasons. The first is that Owens has created such a divide that now even offensive coordinator Jason Garrett can’t stand him now. Garrett has been tabbed already as the head-coach in waiting for the Cowboys, but has been interviewing with other teams for a top job. Werder implies that Garrett might tell owner Jerry Jones that he’ll stay with the team, but only if he’s the head coach and only if Owens is gone. That means a decision on Owens could come in weeks or even days.
I love this so much, I want to raise a family with it. I need Ed to keep doing this. Because the more we talk about it, the more mad Owens gets, and then he’ll do what he always does. He’ll force the Cowboys hand, and they’ll get to the point where they feel like they have to release him.
Your prayers are working, NIHD followers. Keep the faith. Together, we can rid the Cowboys of Terrell Owens.
